Anti-Ragging Committee
(As per UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009)
To ensure a ragging-free campus environment by preventing and addressing incidents of ragging in compliance with UGC Regulations and relevant legal provisions, thereby ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of all students, especially newcomers.
Functions of the Anti-Ragging Committee
- Policy Implementation:
- Ensure strict implementation of UGC Regulations.
- Frame and revise anti-ragging policies and code of conduct.
- Prevention Measures:
- Create awareness through seminars, workshops, orientation programs, and posters.
- Ensure anti-ragging affidavits are submitted by students and parents.
- Campus Surveillance:
- Maintain vigilance in hostels, canteens, classrooms, and other areas.
- Conduct regular inspections by faculty or staff.
- Complaint Handling:
- Receive and investigate complaints (written, oral, anonymous).
- Forward serious cases to the Anti-Ragging Squad.
- Disciplinary Action:
- Recommend actions like suspension, expulsion, or legal proceedings.
- Coordination and Reporting:
- Act as the nodal body for UGC's Anti-Ragging Helpline/portal.
- Submit regular reports to UGC and affiliating university.
- Support for Victims:
- Provide counseling and psychological support.
- Ensure confidentiality and protection of complainants.
All students are advised to strictly adhere to the anti-ragging guidelines. Any violation will invite strict disciplinary and legal action.
